SNEAK PEEK INSIDE D.C.’s First Wegmans Opening 9am July 13!!

Well my friends, I got a sneak a peek of the holy land – D.C.’s first Wegmans! And there are no words. Well there’s actual a huge fact sheet which I’ll include below. I also took a bunch of photos of the 84,000 sq. ft. Shangri-La. Since the store is opening on Wednesday it wasn’t fully stocked but the photos will give you a good snapshot of what’s to be.

Some quick info:

“OPENING: Wednesday, July 13 by 9 a.m.

LOCATION: 41 Ridge Square NW, Washington, DC 20016
HOURS: Open 6 a.m. to midnight

SIZE: 84,000 sq. ft., including indoor and outdoor seating for 160

REGISTERS: 13 full-service, 15 self-checkout, and 7 additional self-checkout registers in the Market Café.

PARKING SPACES: 750 spots on three levels below the store”

“Our chefs make fresh, delicious meals throughout the day. Shoppers are invited to engage with Wegmans culinary experts to discuss meal preparation, pairings, and ingredients.

  • The Burger Bar is Wegmans’ family-friendly, fast-casual restaurant that serves delicious burgers, sandwiches, and fries.
  • The Pizza Shop features authentic Italian pizza, made-to-order or sold by the slice, and a self-serve wing bar.
  • The marche station offers chef-created salads, sandwiches, and packaged subs.
  • Fresh sushi and poke bowls are available in a variety of vegetable, cooked, and raw selections.
  • The Buzz coffee shop offers delicious breakfast sandwiches and organic specialty coffee, tea, and espresso drinks.
  • Asian-inspired cuisine featuring Chinese, Thai, and Indian recipes is available packaged or from a self-serve bar.
  • The self-serve soup station offers a variety of hot soup options.
  • Wegmans offers packaged, ready-to-go entrées and sides–also available in Family Pack sizes.”

“The bakery department features artisan-style breads and rolls, including whole grain options, organic options, and items made with grains grown near our stores. Other bakery offerings include a wide variety of cookies baked fresh throughout the day, breakfast pastries, decorated cakes, cupcakes, specialty desserts, donuts, muffins, and bagels.”

 

“Seafood is delivered daily from ports on the East Coast, across the country, and around the world. This department showcases fully traceable and sustainable seafood processed without chemicals. Products are available fresh and frozen, along with easy, ready-to-cook meals and appetizers.”

“Wegmans is known for offering an unmatched variety, with hundreds of different fruits and vegetables on any given day, including many organic choices.

  • Each location builds strong partnerships with nearby growers and, in season, offers locally grown produce picked daily and delivered directly to the store.
  • The Wegmans Organic Farm & Orchard in Canandaigua, NY experiments with different organic crops and season-extending growing techniques. Research from the farm is then shared with Wegmans’ partner growers.”

“The deli offers traditional deli meats and cheeses, cured specialty meats, and dry sausage products, including 24-month Prosciutto di Parma from Italy. Organic deli meats and cheeses are also available sliced to order or pre-packaged.”

“Wegmans offers specialty and artisan cheeses produced domestically and imported from around the world. The temperature and humidity-controlled affinage case offers premium cheeses aged in the Wegmans Cheese Caves. Pre-packaged Mediterranean options include imported and domestic olives, fresh mozzarella, marinated mushrooms, artichokes, roasted peppers, and antipasti.”

“Wegmans offers a wide variety of ready-to-cook entrées and pre-marinated meats to pop in the oven or on the grill. In addition to conventional meat, the meat department also has organic beef, pork, chicken, lamb, bacon, sausage, and the choice of meat with no antibiotics or added hormones. Wegmans Angus beef raised regionally near our stores and a dry-aging case will be featured in the meat department at Wisconsin Ave.”

“The Wine, Beer & Spirits department offers one-stop shopping with an unmatched selection of the best quality and value. Customers can rely on knowledgeable employees to help them find the perfect pairing. There are more than 500 varieties of craft, domestic, and imported beers, including “Craft Your Own” six-packs and hard ciders. This store also offers a world-class liquor selection including 500 varieties of craft and renowned spirits from around the globe. And with approximately 1,500 wines, the store will have something to delight any palate, at any budget.”

Meals 2GO and Catering – Through Meals 2GO, customers can order Wegmans’ delicious, chef-prepared meals for delivery. Catering options are also available for in-store pickup.

Online Shopping – Customers can complete their grocery shopping online for curbside pickup or delivery to their door in as little as one hour.

The SCAN App allows customers to scan and bag their groceries as they shop for a quick and easy, contactless shopping experience.

The Floral Shop features fresh-cut flowers and signature arrangements.

Wegmans offers a variety of Health & Wellness products, including supplements and herbal remedies, over-the-counter medications, cosmetics, and toiletries.

The Home & Entertaining department includes stemware, wine and spirits accessories, kitchen tools, accessories to complement meals, greeting cards, and gift cards.

Family Pack items save time and money compared to regular-size packages. There are hundreds of Family Pack products found in many departments, including meat, seafood, produce, dairy, frozen foods, and grocery.”
