Update from the broker: “The pond has landed at the Whale! Deal done. Dupont Public Housee – we are making safety, kitchen, and entertainment upgrades to the building to bring it into this century while maintaining all of the classic architecture and will be open this spring in time for everyone to enjoy the World Cup!”
Note: Leading the project will be Rex the GM from Across the Pond (not the previous ownership.)
Back on December 2nd we shared the news that Across The Pond would be moving into the old Sign of the Whale space on M Street. But then were quickly told it was not a done deal yet. I’m happy to report I got the news last night that the deal is now done!!
ICYMI: We broke the news that Across the Pond had closed on Connecticut Ave but would likely be moving somewhere in the neighborhood. After earlier posting that the Sign of the Whale‘s business license had been canceled an ANC rep teased us, “You came close to solving this today” after previously telling us “Another bar in the neighborhood is planning to relocate there after doing some renovations. I don’t think it’s public yet so I’ll hold off on revealing which one.”
Other tipsters came through with the goods “Moving to Sign of the Whale.”
