From a press release:
“Restaurateur Daniella Senior and 5C Hospitality, the team behind Colada Shop and Elegancia, will celebrate the grand opening of Bar Nuestro on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Located at Urby in Navy Yard (1345 Yards Place, SE), the newest member of the 5C family reimagines classic European dishes through the warmth and flavor of Latin America, offering a lively new gathering place for neighbors and diners from across the city.
“Bar Nuestro means ‘our bar,’ and that’s exactly how we want every guest to feel when they walk through the door,” said Daniella Senior, founder of 5C Hospitality. “This is a place built for celebrating, lingering, and sharing great food with the people you love. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in.”
Bar Nuestro carries the same spirit found across every 5C Hospitality concept:
culture, community, and connection served with genuine hospitality. At its heart is a menu developed by 5C Hospitality Culinary Director Claudio Foschi, an internationally recognized chef with experience in Michelin-recognized kitchens who shapes the culinary vision across the 5C portfolio. Working side by side with Daniella Senior, Claudio created a collection of cherished family recipes and led the development of the full menu, including the Latin-inspired dishes that define the Bar Nuestro experience.
“Bar Nuestro is a conversation between two cultures,” said Claudio Foschi. “Daniella and I started with recipes that feel like family, the dishes people gather around and remember, and then gave them a bistrot accent. Every plate carries a little piece of that story.”
Executive Chef Harper McClure, a longtime figure in the Washington, D.C. dining scene, leads the kitchen and helped tailor the menu’s more European-leaning dishes.
The Menu
The dinner menu moves easily from a snack at the bar to a full celebration. Guests can start with crudo like Hiramasa with soursop leche de tigre, mango, and serrano, or the Merolin Churro topped with imperial osetra caviar, crème fraîche, and shallot jam. Aperitivos include Yuca Beignets with truffle and huitlacoche, Head-On Prawns with salsa macha honey, and Lump Crab Pillows with ají dulce tartar sauce, alongside house breads like sourdough with whipped queso fresco and caramelized pineapple.
Entrées bring the bistrot’s two worlds together: Oxtail Mafalde with ragù and parmesan, a Pork Chop Milanesa with avocado mousse, Charred Picaña with leek chimichurri, and the Nuestro Burger with banana ketchup and pommes frites. Dessert ends on a sweet, nostalgic note with Flan de Mamá Lucy, a Sweet Plantain Sundae with rum caramel, and Mango Frío Frío with passion fruit ganache and pitahaya. Entrées range from $26 to $54.
The entire menu is peanut and tree nut free and prepared without seed oils, and the kitchen features a dedicated gluten-free fryer.
A Bar Worth Gathering Around
Led by Beverage Director Josh Murski, the bar program centers on a Build Your Own Martini menu, where guests choose their spirit, vermouth, style, and garnish, with playful add-ons like a caviar bump or an oyster. House favorites include The Rumour, made with Tanqueray Ten, Cocchi Torino, and caviar, and Dirty Dancing, an upside-down martini with onion brine. A $10 Tiny Tini with olive oil washed vodka makes the perfect welcome.
Josh’s cocktail list also features a Fluffy Mango Margarita, a brown-butter washed Negroni, and a Pisco Sour with mango, plus a thoughtful spirit-free selection including Ginger Revival and Kiwi Yerba-Mate. Wines by the glass span Spain, France, Argentina, and Virginia, and the beer list includes local favorites from Richmond’s Väsen Brewing.
A Retro-Modern Space by Shawn Hausman
Acclaimed interior designer Shawn Hausman created a space inspired by mid-century Latin America, blending retro charm with warm textures, playful color, and European accents. The result mirrors the menu itself: rooted in heritage and refreshed for today.
