Arlo Washington DC presents a new edition of Arlo’s Living Room Gallery on Thursday, February 26, from 6-9 p.m. at ART DC, the hotel’s rooftop bar. Timed to Black History Month, the opening reception spotlights new works by DC native Chris Pyrate, presented in partnership with the Downtown DC Bid.
About the Artist:
Chris Pyrate is an award-winning international muralist, painter, and designer from Southeast Washington, DC, known for his bold patterns and signature floral motifs.
His work has appeared in NBA and NFL stadiums and across major fashion brands, from luxury to streetwear.
Pyrate is currently leading an ongoing collaboration with the Washington Wizards, which launched with the team’s iconic Cherry Blossom jersey and apparel line in 2022, alongside recent projects with Complexcon, the Smithsonian, Li-Ning, and Tony Hawk’s Foundation.
He is the founder and creative director of the Chris Pyrate brand, with a flagship store in Washington, DC.
Curated by Jasmine Arakel, the Living Room Gallery series is designed to bring contemporary art into publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels, inviting guests to view Pyrate’s exhibit for a limited time, with select works shown exclusively during the opening reception. Prints will be available for purchase, and Pyrate will participate in a print signing and artist talk.
The reception is open to the public, with a live DJ and curated drink specials available from the full bar for guests to enjoy. Attendees will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to with a one-night stay at any Arlo Hotel and one signed Chris Pyrate print. Photography will take place during the event, and artworks will be available for purchase via QR codes, with the artist on-site to answer questions.
With rooftop views, a lively atmosphere and a chance to meet the artist, the reception invites art lovers, collectors, and enthusiasts to experience Pyrate’s distinctive works in the heart of Downtown DC.
